Sometimes we fight our own nature. We try to be what others want us to be or need us to be. Yet sometimes it falls flat. We just can’t be who others expect us to be. But too often we keep trying. Keep trying to fit the square peg into the round hole. And while you may be able to jam it in there, it’s never going to be a good fit.
It’s not easy to be your freewheeling self, especially if you feel that you’re different from those around you, like your family and friends. And especially if you’ve never really been that person before. Yet eventually you must come to grips with the fact that if you don’t own who and what you are, you’ll never be at peace and at one with yourself. Your true self will continue to call you with ever-increasing fervency.
But don’t be fooled…it truly is the road less traveled. Many, many people in this world are more than willing to continue to play the game their entire lives. They put on their masks and playact through life. Don’t be one of them. It will make all the difference in your life if you relax into who you really are.
You can’t keep fighting against yourself and your true nature and expect to enjoy your life. So put down your sword and stop the fight against yourself.
Begin to love yourself, no matter how quirky. Eventually you will begin to see how wonderful those quirks really are and you’ll attract people into your world who will cherish the parts others used to find odd.
Don’t fight it. Put down your sword.
