Well, tomorrow is my birthday. 47th. And as these things go, I’ve been thinking about my life and the passage of time, and with each passing year, feeling more and more that we have so little time in this beautiful life.
I realized that I have spent much of my adult life waiting for other people to care about me in ways they were never willing or able to. Fortunately, I’ve made a lot of changes in my life and done a lot of growing up, so I’m not in that place any longer of thinking that’s acceptable. Which made me see something very important – a revelation of sorts…
I am not willing to wait any more.
Enough is enough.
I’m not willing to wait for people to give me what I need or what I wish I could get from them.
I’m moving on.
I’m here, ready and willing to share all of the joys of life. I am a fun and awesome person, willing to open my heart and soul and mind to those I connect with in life. If that sounds even slightly tempting, jump into the fray that is my life. Join me on this path of awesomeness, this quest to live wide and deep. This journey called life.
I will open my heart to you if you will open your heart to me, and together we’ll lock arms and walk in the path of friendship.
And if you aren’t ready and willing to jump into the fray, I can’t wait any longer. I won’t allow life to pass me by. It flies by with the swiftness of a gazelle and I don’t want to blink and miss it.
What about you? Is your life passing you by while you wait for others? Or are you making someone wait for you instead of taking a juicy risk and diving in?
Don’t be tentative. Don’t wait.
Time waits for no one, dear. Jump into the fray.

Happy Birthday! While I have always seen you as a wise woman, I also believe there are some things we only learn through experience, so I am not surprised that you have come to understand that it is what is inside us that allows us to be fulfilled or keeps us from feeling fulfilled. Though our communication is intermittent, I have always felt you and I have a connection, so I hope you allow me to be in.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Colleen! And we do have a connection and I’m thrilled to have you in my life! Now maybe I can get you to come for a visit!

Possibly. But the road goes both ways. Or maybe we meet somewhere in between.

When my girl is finished with school, I’m there!

Hey Andrea, the day you posted this, I gave my notice to the University where I have been working for 6 years. My husband has been retired all that time and guess what–he wants me to jump in with him! Will I work again? Maybe. Full-time? No. Will I let myself drift a little in the breeze? You bet! When life makes arrangements for you to feel safe and supported to take a sabbatical . . . well, you know how that sentence ends! Thanks for the inspirational words that seem to come so easily to you . . . rock on 🙂

Congrats on your new path! Thrilled to hear that you’re jumping in! I know that this wasn’t an easy decision for you, but I’m certain that a whole new world of amazing experiences is in front of you! Enjoy!
