October has been a transformational month. A month in which we’ve encouraged you to do something every day that scares you, if only just a little. It’s been a month of learning and growth and expanding our horizons.
I can tell you that I have taken the opportunity this month to do things that scare me. Things that have made me stretch and grow, first a little, and then a lot. What I’ve realized is that once I got OK with moving through the fear, it just wasn’t that scary anymore.
Seems I was giving away a lot of my power to fear. Really, it’s an amazing accomplishment – learning to move through fear and do the things that I find scary. It’s not to say that that I’ll never be fearful again or that I might not still be stymied by fear. But I’ve created the new habit of acknowledging my fears and finding a way to work through them. And that is huge.
Now that I’ve gotten more comfortable with moving through the fear, I feel like a different person. A more powerful person. Someone who is free to live a fuller, richer life. I trust myself to accept the gifts that life has to offer me, and not just always be fearful of when the other shoe is going to fall.
Hopefully you’ve had a similar experience and looked your fears in the eye and faced them down. From the comments we’ve seen this month, we know many of you have, and it is a joy and a privilege to be a part of that process in our readers’ lives.
Denise and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for not only reading our blog, but also for participating in 31 Days of Doing Things That Scare You! And most of all, we hope that we have helped encourage you to begin to leave your fears behind!
