A while back, Denise and I were talking on the phone. I was boo hoo-ing to her about my boy problems and she was driving somewhere with her husband, Jovan.
We were talking about relationships, and by talking, I mean I was lamenting and Denise was talking, and she said back to me what I’m always saying to her about just about every other situation in life – that you’ve got to let it grow organically.
Easy to say when you’re talking about how you’d like your career to grow or how you’d like hobbies to grow, or even friendships. But relationships? Nope. Don’t want organic. I want what I want, when I want it. (Go ahead…laugh…I’m laughing too, and believe me, so is the universe!)
So Denise is telling me that these kinds of things take time and need to grow organically, and then I hear Jovan in the background saying, “Yeah, they need to grow organically and that takes a lot of manure!”
Of course Denise and I were immediately laughing hysterically, because Jovan’s comment was funny as hell!
But think about it…for good things to happen and grow organically, you really do need to wade through a lot of crap. Whether it’s a career or friendship or relationship or whatever. Good things don’t just fall into our laps every single day. It takes time and effort and waiting. And digging through a lot of manure!
So put on your hip boots and start wading through the crap. The gems we find in the mud of life are far too good to allow a little bit of manure to dissuade us from jumping in!

You two are so damned funny.

If you think this is funny you just wait.
