If you’re going to live large and be awesome, it means you need to put it out there in the world. Doesn’t matter what we’re talking about here – life in general, or more specific things, like career, love, or personal growth. Bottom line is that to excel and be awesome, you’ve got to put it out there.
Well, let me tell you a little something.
When you put it out there, it can be scary. Sometimes really scary. Because you’re putting yourself out there to be judged, reviewed, and commented on by people who may or may not give a shit about your feelings or if it hurts.
And guess what?
Sometimes it hurts.
Sometimes it hurts a lot.
Sometimes it pokes at the small, wounded child that resides within you.
And there are two paths you can take when that happens…
- You can retreat back into your shell.
- You can pull yourself up by those annoyingly cliche bootstraps and keep on trucking.
Realistically, once you’re on the path to awesomeness the only real option is #2. That’s not to say that you won’t cry or rant or feel pain like you got stabbed in the gut and have a giant pity party for yourself. In fact, if you’re feeling any of those things, you should honor them and really feel them. And then you should get back to being awesome.
There is a very simple formula for putting it out there in the world. The bigger the risk, the bigger the potential reward. But the bigger the risk, the bigger the potential to fail big and feel miserable too.
Big Risk = Big Reward
Big Risk = Possibility of Failure
Small Risk = Little or No Reward
Being awesome is about accepting the liabilities as well as the rewards and putting it the hell out there!
Now go put it out there!
