In the spirit of declaring intentions and putting wishes and dreams out into the universe with the hope that it will help to manifest those intentions, today I am sharing my bucket list with you.
I used to think that bucket lists were kind of stupid until I started coming up with some things that I really wanted to do and didn’t want to forget about or risk having them slide to the bottom of the pile in the great heap called life, so I threw them on to the ever-popular bucket list. And now I have a bucket list conveniently located on my phone, so I can add to it whenever I think of something.
Some of the items on my bucket list are big-ticket items, while others are small and others are just plain silly. But they’re all my wishes, and one has already been checked off my list, which is always awesome!
So here goes, complete with explanations and commentary, as needed…
- Go target shooting – check!
- Travel to Serbia and Croatia to the villages where my family is from
- Spend a summer in Scandinavia, the land of the midnight sun, and sleep when I’m tired and eat when I’m hungry and see what happens to the entire rhythm of my life
- Go tubing on the Guadalupe River in Texas
- Go to New Orleans with my best friend
- Drive to Alaska – I’ve been told that driving to Alaska is not the best plan because the roads are so bad, so that part may have to change, but Alaska is still on the list. Preferably in summer. See the summer in Scandinavia above for the rationale.
- Go skeet shooting – perhaps it’s because I grew up watching The Love Boat!
- Visit the Parnassus bookstore in Nashville
- Visit Oklahoma City and meet Sweet Brown – this is one of the silly ones, but she just seems like a wonderful lady!
- Learn to fly fish
- Hold a zombie prom
- Take a car out on the open road and drive 100 mph – almost did this on my last business trip…hit 90 and chickened out because there were too many cars on the road that day, plus I can’t afford a speeding ticket!
- Send floating lanterns into the sky, preferably at a wedding (maybe even at my own some day)
- Get a free-sailing boat (mini sailboat) and take it out on the water
There you have it. Nothing to outrageous and all achievable over time.
So how about you? Do you have a bucket list? Why not put it out there in the universe by sharing your in the comments section? We’d love to see what your hopes and dreams are!

Great post! I’ve been thinking about creating a bucket list for my family, before my kids get too old. First on that list is to go to New York City for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I’m going to think about this one and share it on our FB page. This was a good one.
